Where and when will this CPD take place?

This CPD course will take place via Zoom from 930am to 430pm (approximate timings) on Tuesday 29th October 2024.

What does this CPD cover?

This CPD will cover the responsbilities of zoo vets in the UK under the current legislation with updates on the new standards if they have been published by then! It will include the zoo inspection process, what to expect and how to prepare for a zoo inspection.

Who should attend this CPD?

If you work in general practice and provide vet services to zoos then this CPD is for you! It is also open to zoo professionals wanting to brush up on the veterinary requirements, those working full time as zoo vets and those with an interest.

What will I get from this CPD?

Yo will get 6 hours of CPD. You will also receive a link to a copy of the content, additional resources and a certificate of attendance. You will also get to meet others in similar position to yourself.

Veterinary Mentoring Services

Mentoring and Coaching Services for Vets

This is a service which we are offering to vets who provide veterinary services to zoos, either whilst working in practice or as part of an onsite vet team, or private owners with wild and exotic animals.

Working with wild animals is challenging and there is so much that is not in the text book!

It can feel isolating and stressful to have the responsibility of providing these services therefore support is available either on an ongoing basis or more ad hoc for specific situations or challenging cases.

Face to face sessions via Zoom, support via emails and WhatsApp and a shared Dropbox folder for reference material and records of sessions would be included.

Zoo Vet CPD 29th March 2023

Zoo Vet CPD

This one day training provided delegates with an understanding of what is expected of vets who provide clinical services to zoos in the UK.

Who attended?

Any veterinary or zoo professional with an existing role in a zoo or with an interest.

What was included?

6 hours of CPD which included how the zoo licensing process works, what zoo inspectors expect to see from the zoo vet and how to prepare all the relevant documentation required e.g., programme of preventative and curative veterinary care and nutrition, clinical and pathology reviews.

Where was the CPD?

This training was run remotely via Zoom.

Modern Zoo Animal Health Management June 2021

Modern Zoo Animal Health Management 16th and 17th June 2021 This two day online course was attended by zoo keepers, zoo managers and zoo veterinary surgeons. It covered the legislation and responsibilities of providing veterinary services to zoos; preventative health care; clinical care; infectious disease control; emergency procedures; animal transfers and the ethical review process.
