We hosted this live day CPD course on zoom and had great discussions with delegates on topics such as enclosure design, safe working practices, animal welfare, emergency procedures, veterinary interventions and close contact situations. We hope to have this course available online in the future.

One day online CPD course
This online lecture based CPD course was designed for zoo professionals including vets and nurses who work with primates kept in private collections, zoological collections or colleges. It was also open to vets and nurses with an interest in primates. Subjects included: Preventative Medicine, Clinical Care, Training & Enrichment, Legislation, Breeding Management and Case studies. A variety of species were covered including new and old world monkeys, gibbons and great apes.

The day was full of content and discussions and ended with an interactive quiz!

Record Keeping, ZIMS, Animal Transfers
Our invited speaker, Zak Showell explained and demonstrated the use of ZIMS. He also went through the process of animal moves both nationally and internationally.
Emergency Procedures and Darting
We collaborated with Bob Lawrence, Wildpharm, on the use of dart equipment and decision making in emergency situations.

We ran our first specialist topic CPD on primates in December 2018. We had 18 vets and nurses attend and we covered a variety of topics including preventative health, surgery and anaesthesia.
Delegate feedback: Really enjoyed the case studies; relaxed approach; very good and clearly presented; a lot of information was covered given the time allocated which was very impressive!
